What Avatar the movie has to do with gaming is that it (along with Alice in Wonderland and other big 3d movies coming out in the near future) will be killer apps for 3d tvs.
The thing is you can only see movies in most theatres for a limited time; however, you can always see them when you own the dvds and blu-rays. If movies were always in theatres, then they wouldn't have much of an impacy on the home market, but they aren't like that. Also, can you imagine watching sporting events at home in 3d?
I would say there is a very strong possibility that Uncharted 3 will be a 3d game.
