When you consider that Wii has over 9 million hardware lead and it has constatly broken HW records in north america this really isn't that big surprise. Actually it took pretty long time.

It sold MORE software in less time...

With almost 50% more machines sold. Now what a success (especially when Wii play is included into those)

Compare the total ownership time, i bet it is quite similar.  That's what happens when a system sells really fast.  Wii has sold nearly 50% more software since wii launched in the us, the thing that screwed up the comparison is the year headstart.  The wii is accelerating fast, but if we go back just a few months before the price cut wii only had a 24 million userbase, quite similar to 360's now.

You have to give the 360 some credit for the attach rate, but ownership time is also a factor in attach rate as well.  Systems that sell slower tend to have higher attach rates, or systems that have been out longer.
