It's the technological behemoth that was expected to crush all in it's way but got bogged down in high prices, multiplat development and a runaway success by a quirky and innovative console (by Nintendo, who definitely was the underdog) I'd say a better analogy than underdog would be the titanic. It was promised to be the ultimate achievement and runaway success, and quickly struck a berg and took on water. Fortunately for Sony, they seem to be in control of their bilge pumps, and the beast is making a tepid, but meaningful resurgence. |
One might even argue all things considered, the fact the PS3 is doing what its doing now is only outshined by the Wii this generation. After the wii being godly since its release, the PS3 turning things around 3 years into its lifecycle is the most impressive thing of this gen, imo.
