No, multiplayer as a creation is not mean to be art, by the defintion of art. Art is meant to be an experience you normally don't participate in. HOWEVER, there is an art to creating good multiplayer games. Plenty of boardgames are masterful pieces of work, that are appealing on many levels. Actually games themselves aren't normally art either, by the classic definition.
