It's not dying. It's survival of the fittest. Some of the weak have been eliminated because of the recession, but in an industry where billions are at stake, others will rise to take their place. Plus, some of that money is still out there but untrackable in the form of increased downloadable sales and facebook/iPhone apps and "free to play" MMOs and online games eating some of the pie etc etc etc.

There will always be a place for big budget/big studio games and small indie cheapies - much like movies or TV or music or publishing or anything else.

The industry is just fine.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?
