To start, Mario games aren't like other games, in order for a Mario game to be a success commercially it's not about the amount it sells it's about the amount of hardware it moves. But looking purely at sales, it can be said that a Mario game going 10 million sold is a rare occurance, but when compared to other games it doesn't seem so rare.

If you don't believe me here you go:

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/index.php?page=2&results=50&name=mario&console=&keyword=&publisher=&genre=&order=Sales&boxart=Both&showdeleted=&region=All&alphasort=

to put it plainly, having Mario in the name doesn't guarantee millions sold.

Fan's are fans, everyone has their degree of interest it's OK to hate on people who love something, in fact it's promoted as hate means there is love, people hate when something is loved that's usually the reason for hate in fact. It's because something is encouraged when someone feels they are infringed upon through or in response to that encouragement. =P

But hey Mario is a household name, but he wasn't always.

Mario sold his first 10 million because he was great back then.

He sold 1 million because he wasn't as great as he was when he sold 10 million.

He sold 10 million again which means he's as good as he was when he sold 10 million last time.

Numbers don't lie but subjective yammering and propaganda can come from anything for any reason :)

how about i give you the full chartz

almost all of marios games got 1m+...i am sure those numbers might not be correct because some of them are extremely old, my point is check out all the WII games....yeah....thanks for proving my point further

i dont see any propaganda here, there is no turning the words around to trick people into the game sucks (the game doesnt suck >_>), and i dont know why you have to go around saying that i yammer for having a point and trying to back it up....

Sorry for the very late response dude, went shopping and stuff V_V.

You need and please understand that by "need" I'm saying you must identify what your agruing and it's differences to what I'm arguing. I'm not saying your lying or bending anything. I am saying your blowing things out of proportion.

Let's get rid of the name Mario and replace it with Michael Jackson. MJ would release an album it would sell well, then MJ would release a hit and it sold well.

Now they both sold well but considering the artist being Michael Jackson one is considered a hit. Yet Michael Jackson sells so well that even his average commercial successes to other artists would be a hit. In fact Music is split into so many parts mainly so publishers can call their albums hits for marketing purposes rather than make it relative in sales due to certain artists demolishing them based on just numbers.

My point is not the publicly expect, it's that Mario software is supposed to reach 10 million > not  anything less than that, moreover; it's supposed to boost sales for other software and then it's supposed to sell the Hardware. Should a Mario game do that then it is a success.

Saying that 10 million sold is too much based on something like your values though isn't an argument it's your belief and heck this is a forum. The mod's don't ban people for sharing their beliefs so there's no point in my arguing you on that.

Here's my disclaimer by the way: I had WAY more fun playing Dragon Age than I do playing NSMBWii by myself, granted I can't say I like many things that I suck at ^_^.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
