Humm, I think it will depend on the overall perception of FF fans to the final build of FFVXIII.
FFX-2 didn't seem to be much affected by that label, even though it was more of a direct sequel to FFX, so it rode a bit on the impact of FFX.
Maybe FFVXIII will also ride a bit on the impact of FFXIII, even though they share nothing but the mythology of the Fabula Nuova Crystallis
