The thing is sony gaming division became too big back in the time they were dominating, their model depends heavily on domination, they're doing the right thing by expanding PSN to tv's and others so they can use PS brand to create more profit to the movie studios and TV's I don't think there's much else they can do.

imo they could drop the ps2 hardware, add ps2 emulation, improve the PSN from a browsing and content perspective, add ps2 games to the PSN

and let more people know they're doing this. seriously, i think if you had to tell the average PS3 user some of the features even currently available on the ps3 they would be pleasantly surprised, but I think that most ps3 owners or prospective ps3 owners just don't know (or care...yet)

also, I don't think Sony would go awry by adding an e-mail client such as thunderbird or something to the XMB or life with playstation, and actually get the word out.

the ps3 as it stands is pretty good on pirate protection - therefore more profits for studios involved - so expanding the base of media the ps3 could provide access to could potentially help a lot and perhaps revive interest in older franchises if they were made available to the public as downloadable content.

if their model depends on domination, i think it's about time they tried to either regain domination in some aspects of home entertainment, or redefine their model lol.
