The PS3 is doing considerably better than it was and that's nice to see. However, it's still losing Sony money. The gaming division has been balanced by the profitable PS2 and PSP but those are both in decline, PS2 - the moneycow is in steep decline now. That means Sony is becoming ever more dependant on a money losing machine with just a hope it'll become profitable (it will eventually) and enjoy a long, long life so they can recoop some of those billions lost.
Sony as a whole has always been a profitable company. It's now been losing money, in part due to the PS3. Sony is showing strong commitment to their gaming division but their shareholders may have other ideas if it's continually costing them money.
We will all have a clearer picture soon when they release their financial statement to shareholders. Regardless of sales, MS is making money, Nintendo is making obscene amounts of money and could buy their own country, Sony is going to certainly be in the red. Ironically, even if PS3 was #1 it probably wouldn't change that reality. |
Thanks for that, I just feel so down when I see these articles, sorry lol.
Do you think sony could benefit from phasing out the ps2, yes they would lose potential money on new ps3 users(due to production costs), but maybe if they bought plenty of software, you see where i am going on this one hehe?? just wondering....
If not then seriously what is the best option for Sony right now do you think??

The thing is sony gaming division became too big back in the time they were dominating, their model depends heavily on domination, they're doing the right thing by expanding PSN to tv's and others so they can use PS brand to create more profit to the movie studios and TV's I don't think there's much else they can do.

Thanks for clearing that up, I guess your right, I have supported the PS brand since PS1, so it's understandable how they could have gotten so reliable on domination, i mean it's all they are used to since PS1 right. I am glad they have changed things now, and seem to be making good progress
