So IGN have completed their yearly top 25 gaming list for each of the respective platforms. Here is a list of the two HD console competitors I have laid out for what I hope is easy reading. It seems like the selection was picked by each of the respective IGN console specific editorial team and not by the IGN staff as a whole.
Now it must be said not everyone agrees with the list and not everyone likes IGN but they are one of the most widely read video game websites on the net so their views do carry some weight.

Miscellaneous:
- Bioshock, Oblivion and Braid were timed exclusives for the X360 but were available on the PC from the start.
- Batman: Arkham Asylum and Street Fighter IV also available on the X360. Batman: Arkham Asylum featured exclusive content only found in the PS3 version. NHL 10 also available on the PS3.
- Virtua Fighter Online on the X360 is version C of the arcade edition as well as featuring a host of console specific extras. The PS3 had an earlier release based on version B and no online gameplay. I have not shown this game as an exclusive.
- Bioshock on the PS3 was released with additional content exclusive to that platform.
- Gears of War was a timed exclusive
- Fallout 3 on the X360 had 5 No. timed exclusive download content.
- GTA IV on the X360 has 2. No. exclusive download content.
I think the chart is very telling. It shows how each console has been getting better year on year but also shows how the PS3 has been gaining momentum over the X360. Of course this is all down to personal tastes and one could argue many things such as how most multi platform games are a superior experience on the X360 (especially Orange Box) and X360 owners got to play Oblivion, Bioshock and Fallout 3 DLC long before their PS3 counterparts but the fact of the matter is most of the picks are exclusives and the PS3 has more of them that feature in the list.
Being a back and forth battle Microsoft does have its work cut out next year with some heavy hitters from Sony but then again Microsoft do have some heavy hitters of their own that could easily put a stop to Sony gaining any more sales leads at least until Sony fight back with more of their own.
What does everyone think of the list and which is better?
