It's just like the "gauche caviar" being the worst bunch of snobs and not having a clue about lower classes needs, yet, when left wing wins, they get more power than they should and do such and so many things against the people that lower classes give them the finger, turn to right wing and make the left lose the successive elections... At least it looks like it works this way both in Italy and France, otherwise we wouldn't have reelected Berlusconi so many times and the French wouldn't ever have had to ballot between right wing and neo-nazis... 
BTW our dear Mr.Prodi, when he was president of European Council, managed to get EU heavily fined when he refused hormone ridden meats from USA despite he could have refused them with a motivation specified in WTO rules that could have avoided any fine. And he never admitted his guilt and incompetence, instead praising himself for "saving" us. That's the kind of arrogance that force us to choose the "less worse"...
