How bitter would PS3 and 360 owners be if third parties spent years launching "test games" to see if they were worthy of getting more high-profile, high-quality games?
How bitter would they be if those same third parties ignored the fact that several high-quality PS3 and 360 games sold well, and decided to launch their following games on the Wii, completely forgetting their previous successes on the PS3 and 360?
How bitter would they be if 3rd parties and the industry in general used niche games and spin-offs as "proof" that PS3 and 360 owners don't deserve getting better games?

If the games we wanted were not on our platform of choice we would have purchased another console long ago...........
I don't go to Subway to purchase a cheeseburger, I go to Wendy's or Mc Donalds :P

So your point is, PS3/360 fans are shining beacons of rationality and pragmatism while Wii fans are irrational and unbalanced whiny fanboys?

My point is that it's been quite clear for a while that Wii wasn't going to get the same kind of games as HD consoles.
If those are the games you want, buy the platform that has them...
Ever hear any console owner complains they are not getting MMOs ?
Nope, people that want to play those play on the PC....
If I want to play Mass Effect or Halo as a PS3 owner, I'm not going to start a petition online or bitch like mad about pulbishers, I will purchase a 360....

Wii fans aren't saying games like Mass Effect or Halo should be on Wii. Only a select few people are saying that and frankly, they aren't looking at the big picture. Since the Wiis conception, most people have looked at the Wii for what it was and realized the Wii had true potential to do one of two things. Either be limited to games with Wiimote controls (like WiiSports/Zelda: Twilight Pricess) or be a system where developers could basically do anything they want if they put forth the effort. And as we have seen, when developers actually put forth the effort, they can create games that practically do whatever they want on the Wii. Its not about graphics or being HD, its about effort from these third party developers.
Nintendo themselves have shown us this, certain third parties have shown us this. Its just that the majority of third party companies have chosen to only give the Wii casual/party/mini-game titles or smaller titles with limited budgets (The Conduit, Blom Blox, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, etc) and then whine that they don't sell as well as a game on the HD consoles/Nintendo internal titles.

Thw Wii never was a system where developers could do anything they want if they put forth the effort. What third party developers want most of all is a system with enough power that they could use the readily available engines and focus on the content instead. The Wii is so underpowered, if a developement team goes that route, they pretty much have to code everything with just the Wii in mind. That would only happen if Nintendo had moved Wii upmarket. But Nintendo got greedy, and in the third year of the life cycle, they focussed solely on things like Animal Crossing, and Wii Music, and then shifted focus again to Wii Fit. If Nintendo had instead released a new hardcore IP that year, the picture today would be very different. They should have led the way, because unlike other third parties Nintendo's top teams will only focus on the Wii. How may AAA story drive games gas Nintendo done lately? Sony was in a similar situation with dwindling support on PS3, but they pushed their first part and exclusive titles to the limits to make PS3 turn around. They led by example, and now third parties have come around.

What does Nintendo 'leading the way' have to do with third parties jumping on board? That got them nowhere on the N64 and GC. And that got them nowhere on their monster first two years of the Wiis launch. You know, when the Wii was selling out of stores upon arrival and Nintendo had games like Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros going head to head with all the major HD games. And where did Sony or Microsoft 'lead the way' to gain the support of third parties back on the XBOX and PSX? I see no coorilation with your 'leading the way' argument with the first part of your argument.
My statment of 'developers could do whatever they want' was meant to focus on how developers could develop games in any way they want, if they put their minds to it. Sure, they couldn't go make some holographic game that let people jump into the Matrix and fly over the Grand Canyon at 300 FPS. But within the Wiis boundaries, they could develop anything they wanted, if they just put forth the effort. Instead, they just set these imaginary boundaries of 'we can only use waggle, these set resources, target these set markets and aim to sell these many units'. And it was even a shock to the third parties when Wii games started selling well, because they expected their own games to bomb. That's just plain sad.
