Why is it that all the criticism of Microsoft tend to be made by people who are fond of Sony's place in the industry and yet they criticise Microsoft on grounds that Sony has trod on much heavier than Microsoft has themselves!
* Microsoft trying to form a monopoly:
Answer: What has Sony been doing the last 2 generations with aggressive price competition, taking low software royalties, money hatting timed exclusives? Every time Nintendo has been on top the other companies at least had a chance to compete AND make a profit.
* Microsoft doesn't belong in the industry:
Answer: Neither does Sony if you spread your critical gaze back towards Sony and apply the same criteria. Microsoft has been involved in gaming since the late 80's which is infact only about 10 years behind Nintendo and 5-10 years before Sony.
* Microsoft is milking people:
Answer: So is Sony and so is Nintendo and so is Blizzard and so on... Willing seller/willing buyer, they can't compel people to buy their products and there are alternatives... Its one thing to be logical and say that somethings not worth it, the issue here is it sounds like a personal affront that Microsoft dare 'milk people'.
* If Microsoft takes over it will be the end of the industry:
I remember saying that with the PS1, so if the industry can survive Sony they can certainly survive Microsoft as they are as bad as each other.
