By the third year of the NES it was flooded with support. The Japanese developers were on board early on, and plenty of smaller Western developers jumped on board. The big Western third parties of the time like EA didn't, but it was much easier for smaller companies to get into NES development than Wii development. Most bigger third party developers of this time went bankrupt.
