Even still, they're not winning now. But they're still the ones whose participation in the industry is most dangerous long term. So yes, I would like to see them leave. Hopefully it can return to the ways of entertainment, and these technology companies(Microsoft and looming Apple) can have other focuses. There's a reason why Sony created Sony Computer Entertainment to carry out the PlayStation. They were a technology company in origin, but they were well aware this was an entertainment business. |
You are aware that when Sony entered the console gaming world they had ZERO (credible) games or franchises right?
Not only that theres interviews all over the web STATING that prior to Ken Kuturagi joining sony that sony LOOKED DOWN upon gaming and had no interest in it. (it's only when they realised how profitable it could be that they joined the race)
Sony BOUGHT & BRIBED their way to the top.
Sony wanted to monopolise the gaming world for themselves too despite the fact that at one time they had no gaming talent whatsoever.
Think about that before you take a dig at microsoft.

sony never had to pay a dime for third parties, nintendo was good enough kicking them off,
bribe them maybe, but with technology, help with promotion (they saved square from dying with spirit within), and with the ps2, very well optimized games engines.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Sony pay for the latter last gen GTAs to be timed exclusives?
