I guess you failed to see the point of my conversation and that was that 5% of the population I.E. the super rich could could give 1% of their income and this problem would go away in one night. Bungie is just one of many companies that profit from video games, movies, music, etc that could give 1% of their bottomline and could rebuild Haiti in no time flat. I know that you are very accustom to disagreeing with people that have different points of view so I know that most this is going over your head. 1 billion dollars is small potatoes to the top 5% of our population, that is not even 1 percent of their combined wealth. 77,000 is a great number but really how much over the years have big companies like bungie made on gamers like us? Exactly.....my original post still stands. |
I guess you failed to see the point in this thread, it's to raise awareness in Bungie's "Be A Hero" campaign. Not a thread to verbally piss on all other businesses (Why are you mentioning other companies anyway?) and whine about how rich and greedy they're. In no way are you contributing. I figure you don't even own Halo 3 or ODST OR a Xbox 360. Heh your probably to cheap to donate anything and rely on the "rich" too do it for you.
Your going off topic and acting as if Bungie aren't doing a thing/doing it to profit themselves. You talk about the common man going without. If you haven't noticed you are actually buying and receiving a Bungie Shirt and that $20 is going to Haiti. You are getting something out of it, what would you get from going directly to the red cross? Your not being forced to donate so if your to strapped for cash, don't. Simple as.
By the way how wealthy do you think Bungie are? You will find Microsoft claimed the majority of the profits from the Halo series and Bungie have atleast 3 internal projects with money riding in them. No company will chuck all of their worth into a charity and dump themselves, their familes and their shareholders into the gutter. If you were the CEO your head would be on a plate. Literally...
One rich person/company providing will accomplish very little only in large numbers will the support do any good. And why do you think too fix a damaged country all you do is chuck some money at it and bang everythings fine? It takes time. Food, medicine, materials needs to be shipped in (Thats proving to be tough enough) and the infrastructure needs to be rebuilt. You know? Hospitals, Schools, Homes etc. And guess what with all of that comes more costs. Wages, transport costs (Fuel) etc. This is the real world not the Sims.
Little fact: Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have donated around $60 Billion between them to help aid 3rd world countries, they're the two richest men in the world and what significant impact has that had?
I won't reply to your next post if you come out with the same "rich control 85% of the world they should be the ones providing everything" bullshit. We are all just as liable and I'm sure 85% of us "common men" can afford a $20 tee or a quick game of Halo 3 on a wednesday night.
