Did you miss where I wrote this only applies to a certain point?

If it's not allowed for much of the game, that still means those parts before that point are linear.

That's true, that's why I said that although this game is more linear than the past ones, it still opens up for exploration.

I find a resemblance between of the initial linearity of FFXIII with the linearity of FFX, which only allowed for backtrack exploration almost at 3/4 of the game itself.
