Higher userbase doesn't always equate to higher sales. Perhaps that would be the case if FF13 was announced as a wii game from the start but even then, I doubt it because FFXIII sold pretty similar to its previous iterations on ps3s meager userbase alone.

Larger userbases do affect upper limits of sales... Wii's best selling game in Japan is at 3.6m, PS3's is at 1.8m.

I'd say a Wii FFXIII would've matched FFX (and exceeded FFXIII PS3) for sales in Japan.  In the west is where it would tumble though, as I think a lot of FF's expanded western audience are more PlayStation faithful, plus big Japanese 360 games tend to do well regardless.

sony GT5 will likely break 2 millions easily even with half the userbase

Well, in 2 more years that 3rd party record will be 3.5m+. ;)

GT5 won't even break 1 million unless they bundle the shit of it.  Hell, GT3 only sold 1.43m in Japan.
