1996-2001.

I say this even though I didn't even have a damn PS1! The N64 + PC combo is more than enough. Then again, we do have a few from SNES, Dreamcast's library... and we got a taste of the 6th gen.

Not sure if it's cheating, but regardless of the consoles, all the games below were released in this time period:

SNES - some late greats
Super Mairo RPG
Lufia II
Kirby Super Star

N64 - all-time peak of local multiplayer
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Smash Bros
Goldeneye
Mario 64
Kart 64
Star Fox 64
THQ Wrestling games (best ever)
... many other 4p games

Dreamcast - remember Sega's last?
Soul Calibur
Grandia 2
Sonic Adventure
Tony Hawk 2
Skies of Arcadia
Jet Grind Radio
Shenmue
Power Stone
(list getting too long)... every other amazing Dreamcast game

PS2, GC, XB - early goodies
Final Fantasy X
Super Smash Bros Melee
Pikmin
Super Monkey Ball
Halo
GTA3
Ico
... others I'm not into, like GT3

PC - golden age, IMO
Heroes II/III
Civilization II
GTA 1-2
FF7-8 (didn't have a PS1!)
Everquest
Counterstrike
Starcraft
Half-life
Diablo 1-2
Quake 2-3 / Unreal Tournament
The Sims

Oh god, that PC lineup is ridiculous. I'm sure there's more if I look it up, but there's no need. The other periods don't come close.

1990-95 comes in second. The 16-bit consoles had some amazing games, and the PC side was great as well.
