I beat the single player and have played multiplayer. The optimal amount of playters I think is 2. Witrh 2 you can can make mistakes and use the bubble as an advantage. With 3 or 4 player it's hectic, fun, but almost unplayable, since someone is always doing something stupid, like constantly bubbling for no reason cause they dont' want to die. I LOVE THIS GAME.
I agree that online multiplayer will be annoying, cause you'll just find friends that are being douches. though I guess it would be ok if you can play with just friends that don't want to come over and you 2 can still play.
another problem I find is not enough saves. Everytime someone new comes over to play this game, they want to start fromt he begining a fresh new save file, understandable since it's mario.
The last problem.......everyone fights to be Mario, THEN Luigi, then they just don't care for the Toads, lol.
