Some VGC members hail Valkyria Chronicles as the best game this gen.
The game was surely a turning point for some of the members here. Even though the game was developed by a 3rd party, exclusive lis wuldfail to mention this "masterpiece. Sometimes the game was used as a weapon against foes more commonly known as "fanboys", others used it as a prime example for the JRPG dominance even though the game is a SRPG.
Whats more is tha the opening week was a dissapointing one, only 30,000 units sold on it's first week in NA and Others in a holiday period. Luckily Japan kept this game afloat during the beggining harsh times, people said it wouldn't outsell Blue Dragon and it won the honourable tittle of "best game no one played".
Now times have changed. PS3 slim launched and at the same time Valkyria Chronicles launched, selling 50k on Black Friday and selling about 160k throughout the Holidays leading upto a grand total of 800k. I'm sure Sega weren't expecting that.
Of course, Valkyria Chronicles has the potential to reach 1 million leading to NICE PROFIT!!!
But this is where VC2 comes in. The PSP offers very low dev costs. So much lower that Sega decided to develop the sequel on the PSP. Will this have the same success as VC? Will Japan take the sales to a whole new level? What will be the new weapon PS3 fans use when in battle with their foes?
Discusssss.
