Why do people still act like this will be the first FF game on an xbox console?

Cause most people tend to only think of FFXI in terms of the ps2 and pc.  The 360 version did sell decently, definitely compared to how far into the games life it was released.

I personally prefer playing FFXI on my 360, for safety and security purposes.  I also believe the extra draw distance does make it look better than the other 2 platforms.  Most people prefer it on the PC because of a certain add-on they can use with it.  And then there are the people who still prefer it on the ps2.  Granted, the ps2 has the worse graphics of the three, but it has the best performance, hands down.

I see this game selling 1-2 million on the 360.  The 360 isn't known to be an RPG powerhouse, that the PS3 is.  On the flip side, the PS3 JRPGS haven't sold any better than the 360 JRPGS.  Only one 360/PS3 rpg has broke 1 million that I know of, and that is FFXIII.  Other than that release, the 360 has the better sales figures with games like Lost Odyssey and Last Remnant.  Demon Souls did do alright as well, and White Knight Chronicles might too.

Taking in account the used game market, I would guess 1-2 million on the 360, and 2-3 million on the ps3.  That's for American sales.

Valkyria Chronicles has sold as much if not more than Losy Odyssey which is the 360s highest selling JRPG.
WKC in Japan alone seems to have outsold Tales of Vesperia and The Last Remnant on the 360. Demons Souls is on its way to outsell Blue Dragon. Final Fantasy XIII will reach 2M in Japan alone before Year's end. As of right now the PS3 is the JRPG system for Console games. TOV: Complete outsold its 360 counterpart's worldwide sales. And I wouldn't be surprised if Star Ocean: International outsells Star Ocean: The Last Hope

Of course the PS3 was going to win out in the jrpg home console race (not that this is saying much. home consoles are weak jrpg-wise compared to handhelds.) As strong as the jrpg community is within the 360 community, there are boatloads of jrpg gamers who would rather die than buy an American console no matter how many jrpgs are on it due to subcultural issues (the stereotypical western otaku demographic) as well as many other jrpg gamers who may respect the 360 and how far it's gone in terms of Japanese software (and may even own the 360 itself as well as some Japanese 360 games) but yet still associate Final Fantasy and jrpgs with the Playstation brand (for most jrpg gamers, the Playstation, not a Nintendo or especially not a Sega system, was their first entry into jrpgs.)

The 360 version of FF13 does lose some steam for more compressed video, "only" 5 channel audio (and more compressed) and multiple discs but the majority of gamers don't have the video/audio setup to tell the difference and unless I'm underestimating society's laziness, I don't think the multiple disc thing is much of an issue for most people. How much of a pain is it really to swap discs a couple times (once for disc 2, once for disc 3)? The way that some people talk about it, you'd think that FF13 was like SO4 (where you gotta switch discs to backtrack. Bad move on Tri-Ace's part). So I think the whole "japanophile effect", Playstation-Final Fantasy association and Playstation brand loyalty will be the major factors. Not the other things.

The Playstation brand loyalty thing in particular is pretty huge. Considering that many gamers grew up with a PS1 or PS2 in childhood. I find the level of Playstation fanboyism on the internet to be annoying but if I think about it, the typical 16 year old PS fanboy was barely out of their diapers when the PS1 was released. Even an 18 year old man today was still only 3-4 years old when the PS1 was released. Many of these young fanboys grew up with Playstation 1 or 2 just like I grew up with the NES and Genesis in childhood. So it's understandable that the Sony Defense Force would have a lot of fiercely loyal fanboys. Nostalgia is very powerful. Even now, I wouldn't ever admit that the SNES was better than the Genesis. The Genesis holds a special place with me. So I can see it from the point of view of many of the PS fanboys on the internet). Of course the PS3 has older fanboys too. But I did notice that many of the fanboys tend to be young.
