that doesn't solve the problem at all, it only makes the problem slightly smaller.  The 360 will still have a bigger userbase in the west when FF13 launches. 

No.  People in Japan and Europe buy this game as well.  It's an international phenom.  You are also forgetting that SE decided that MS would be in this way before the PS3 sliim came out, way before Sony started coming back.  Things look a bit different now, if you haven't noticed.

 

Doesn't need to be that big either, as long as the game sells 1/5 as many copies as the PS3 version it will be worth the investment.

 

Then, it would be worth it for sony to simply moneyhat a  bit more and keep MS out of the picture.
