Fei-Hung said: I hate Halo since I believe it is overrated, but I firmly believe Halo Reach will outsell GT5 by a large number. GT has lost a lot of customers to Forza, whilst Halo still has its die hard fanbase that no one so far has been unable to take away from. Secondly, EU+Americas is bigger than Japan and Halo will probably shift big numbers in EU+Americas since they enjoy FPS. GT on the other hand will probably do big numbers in EU and Japan. However, if Sony are clever, they will use Top Gear to promote the game (since the Top Gear track is present) and if this happens, you may get a decent portion of the top gear fan base (over 100,000,000 world wide) buy the game. |
I'll keep adding numbers!
GT3 (First installment in the system) sold 7M units in america, 6M units in Europe and 2M in Japan.
GT4 (Second installment in the system) in a year sold 6M units even with the release of the next-gen consoles.
GT5p sold 3.5M in a year, and it's a demo...with an opening week bigger than the Forza 3 one.
GT4p sold 1.8 compared to the 3.5M of GT5p...
We can say that those 3.5M sold for GT5p are people waiting for GT5 to come, so those are already 3M+ sales for GT5
GT4p sold 1.8 million and GT4 sold almost 10M in a userbase 2 times bigger than PS3 one and with a HUGE piracy problem.
GT5p sold 3.5 million in ps3 without piracy and a userbase 2 times lower than the PS2 one when GT4p released...
See where i'm going? 3.5 / 2 = 1.8M...
I'm Back! - Proud owner of the best doomed handheld of all time!
