How much have you played Bayoneta ??? The game resolved around dodging, the rest is just random button pushes... I played over 150h of DMC4 and same with NGS, I can not see playing Bayoneta more than 50 hours or so... This game is hyped because a hooker wearing leather somehow is more cool for some people.. As for cinematics, who cares ?| After 2 playthroughs most people will skip all of them anyway and all that's left is pure gameplay that solely resolves around dodging at the right frame... |
I am 12 hours in on my first playthrough. And so far what ive expereince seen and played is greater than any hack and slash before. Few replays later I can tell you what I fully think, but as things stand this has a chance of being my favourite game this gen.
And the game has a lot more to offer than just hack and slash action. The boss fights are insane, set pieces are imginitive, the mini games, little space harrier like flying game, motorcycle chase, the collecting and combining of herbs idea...etc...all briliant and provide variety. Story and music are take it or leave it...but i like them personally.
I think your outlook is a little skewed here. Buying and playing a game is not like buying a car. You don't need to worry about how long will this last you. If you look at bayonetta as a hack and slash and compare it to other hack and slash games and how much mileage you will get from both...you are completely missing the point. The game is a unique experience and absolutely nothing about the game can be described as generic and unimaginitive... And pretty much everythign about DMC4 can.
