I always hated random battles. Nothing bothered me more than "I'm about to get to a save point and I ran out of healing/revival/what have you after many hours of game play and I got into a random battle with some powerful monster and *poof* dead."
I really, really loved the battle system in FF XII, I wish XIII had kept it :(
