I always wondered about using kinetic energy from the wheels turning to charge the battery in electic cars, it could run forever depending on how much electricity could be generated from wheel turning.

kinetic energy from the wheels is already used to charge batteries in hybrid cars.  the car won't move forever but it is the reason why hybrid cars get pretty much the same milage in city as they do on highway, much of the losses do to braking is recovered.
