Miguel_Zorro said: Ubisoft had a massive opportunity with Avatar and they screwed it up. To take what could end up being the highest grossing movie of all time and turn it into a poor excuse for a game the way they did was just sad. They thought they could release crap, and people could buy it because of the name. If they had put together something good with the license that they had (think Batman: Arkham Asylum) instead of the shovelware that they rushed out, the game would have sold millions of copies, and they'd be hitting their sales target. Poor strategy, poor planning, poor execution. They had a chance. |
I don't blame Ubisoft for that. The Avatar games are actually not bad, given the short development time movie games have. You can't make a AAA game for a movie and release the same time as the movie (unless it's extremely simply or short). An AAA game would need another year development time.
