Problem though is how can anyone honestly sit here and declare that it didn't meet expectations? There is zero to back up that claim and people posting it as though it is fact is incredibly wrong from how I look at it.

Only thing we really have to look at really is that Media Molecule stated that they are very pleased with the game's sales, this was back in January 2009 and before Kaz Harai announced that it sold around 1.3M at CES '09. I posted a link for this in this thread a few pages back.

Now the game is sitting just over 3M. If they were pleased at 1.3M I am sure 3M is at least around what they expected wouldn't you think?

Type in Sackboy Sony Mascot to google. There was a huge push for this game. But you are missing my point here.

Media Molecule is a bit removed from my exact topic. What they were expecting is a complete mystery. What Sony publicly, and repeatedly stated they wanted is less so. Still moving on, any game that is making a healthy return on investment will have the company pleased so long as the company is reasonable. That doesn't mean it lived up to all their hopes and dreams though. Sega has been pleased with their M rated game offerings on the Wii, but there is still hesitation in going down that road as an example.

@CGI
Gearbox has admitted to saying 10 million as a prediction, which would top the original Halo, and Halo 3 at the time. Being a Mario killer (as in no Mario games would no longer sell well as I recall, but that was Rock_On_2008) is a more outlandish claim anyways.
