Me and my friends have had elaborate discussions about these, though we use the term "wierd girls"--wierd as in, not status quo and boring, not wierd as in strange.
It's incredibly true, overall. Wierd/geek/whatever girls are more interesting, they can actually hold conversations, and most of the other stuff mentioned in the article.
