Kratos and Zeus are fighting. They fight all the way to the edge of Mount Olympus. Zeus begins to take the advantage and cuts Kratos' hand. While hanging on for dear life against a cliff, they have a discussion:

Zeus: You are beaten. It is useless to resist. Don't let yourself be destroyed as Gaea did.

There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you. You do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order back to Olympus.

Kratos: I'll never join you!

Zeus: If you only knew the power of the gods. Gaea never told you what happened to your father.

Kratos: She told me enough! It was you who killed him!

Zeus: No. I am your father.

Kratos: No... No... That's not true! That's impossible!

Zeus: Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

Kratos: No! No! No!

Zeus: Kratos. You can destroy the Titans. I have forseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and together we can rule Olympus as father and son. Come with me. It is the only way.

Kratos lets go of the cliff and falls off, but Gaea rescues him and grants him a new wooden hand. Zeus' minions chase them off Olympus and they make a break for safety. The ending sequence is of Kratos vowing revenge on his father.
