Problem: You like Vanilla more than Chocolate.
Solution: Eat Vanilla instead of Chocolate.
Problem: You like wRPGs more than jRPGs.
Solution: Play wRPGs instead of jRPGs.
I do like jRPGs when they are open in terms of exploration at some point in the game (world maps, airships, etc.) but linear in terms of character and plot development. I admit, I get bored with wRPGs most of the time because I feel no attachment to the story or character(s).
I don't like how FF10 and 13 were so linear in terms of exploration. FF13 felt like a corridor game most of the time. I'll probably be following the Tales series for a while until the FF guys do something (I hear Versus is more open exploration with towns, forests, ariships). With current gen tech, there is no reason for SE not to be able to do a full flight sim mode for the airship control.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
