What is being missed is that right now Project Natal and the Sony Wand are peripherals with potential. But they are still peripherals -- add-ons that the 68M who own those systems would have to buy. Meanwhile, there are 65M Wiis.
And if history tells us anything, less than 40% (27.5M) will buy the add-ons. The Wii Balance Board, usually sited as the most successful high-end add-on, has only reached a penetration level in the high 30s.
Thus, the market for these devices and their software is probably not as high as what most developers or analysts are thinking, just based upon history.

I am Mario. I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
