The solution is simple:  Limit editing thread titles to the first 5 minutes of posting.

Honestly, most people make grammar or spelling errors in thread titles and want to fix those.  It doesn't take 5 hours to notice those. 

And if someone does abuse it then warn/ban them.  If they're going to pull garbage like that then tell them it's not appropriate or show them the door.
