I truly believe that the PS2 is going to be the budget console of choice. Developers aren't deserting it and there are still more than 160 games coming out before the second quarter of 2008 http://www.gamershell.com/news/42858.html.

Also, Sony has patented a new device that will allow players to control games with movement of the head which will be released on ps2 and 3. I personally believe it will do extremely well amongst people who don't game that much and don't want to spend much money on it and the PS2 is the perfect choice for them.

Saying that ps3,wii,360 sales show the future isn't a waterproof argument. The PS2 is also sold and that should be proof too. Of course it is pretty easy to say that the market of the new consoles is growing as their marketshare increases but that doesn't automaticly mean the PS2 is decreasing so much that market dries up. The PS2 isn't a current gen from a technical point of view but from a sales p.o.v it sure is.

According to your logic, when we talk about home video market, we should compare sales data of Blue ray, HDDVD players with DVD players's, it turns out that they are selling at a ratio of 2:1:1000, but what we often see and in headline is what is going on between HDDVD and Blue ray. The truth is, in a newspaper u have to take in consideration what to put in the front page, and whatelse goes to the page 2.
