Actually , that link you gave doesn't prove anything. maybe YOU had trouble identifying which sites were parodies but me and my little bro, who i brought to take the "test" with me, we both scored 7/7 in recognising whcih sites were parodies... >_>

so to tarheel91, i think the thread was awsome, really well written. i guess if the thread was any more subtle you would be getting flamed to a crisp by members thinking it's real. right now it's a balance between subtle enough to "get" some people yet obvious enough to not get flamed by everyone who reads the thread.

but i still think more subtle == more FUN ;)

I haven't taken the test, I just googled Poe's Law example. It's fine if the point of the parody is to "trap" people and make fun of them for not "getting it", but I assumed to point was to be satirical and humorous.

You're right, the point IS to be satirical and humorous. and i feel like it's not funny if it's too obvious, people being "got" in the process is just an added bonus :D

I adore parodies, they're my favourite kind of comedy and my favourites are the ones that are more subtle.

ever heard of "theonion"? (the onion news network). it's my favourite site for funny vids cuz the actors in the clips act so serious, and it takes the joke to a whole new level of funny, where you actually believe what they were saying if it wasn't so ridiculously insane :)
