Anyone else think the SVER defend/attack points in Central Asia are badly designed? They're located on the roof, and the only way for the attacking team to get to them is by walking up the stairs - sure there's another way to reach it on point B, but chances are you'll die. It's a huge disadvantage for the attacking team. You have the defending team on the roof, and they can clearly see the attackers. There are a lot of great spots for defence. For the attackers, they're sometimes wide open and very visible when they want to climb the stairs. I can't recall a time where I lost a Sabotage match in Central Asia. They're incredibly easy to defend. I like the map design and all, but I think Zipper chose the worst place to put those defend/attack points. I don't like playing in that map because I know for a fact that my team will win.

The attack/defend points in South America and Alaska are better, but also easier to take. You can reach those points in several ways, and in South America, you can hide in the bushes to reach the base. Point C in South America is pretty much a rush job, and there are a lot of ways to enter as well.

Maybe it's just me, or maybe S.V.E.R. is full of kick-ass players

I played some Demolition today (3 matches). I'm not having as much fun as you guys are; it's pretty much a clusterfuck like I was expecting. Throw a grenade or shoot somewhere, and you're bound to kill someone. Your teammates also get on your way, a lot actually. I do like the scale of the battles, and the fact that you can use vehicles. It really feels like a full-scaled war game. It gets pretty insane, but I prefer playing smaller battles.

If you're talking about Sabotage, yea. For A it's crazy because you have to go around to the sides of the building and then go up the stairs and all but one are facing away from the defenders so you have to run up the stairs with your back facing the enemy which will leave you under fire the entire way. It's a little bit better for B because there is a set of stairs on the front of the building and then there's the walkway that is accessable from the hilltop area where both attackers and defenders can fight for coming out of their spawn. I try to be smart about getting to their objectives and throw smoke grenades to try and cover up the stairs before I climb them, but it's still common that I'll get shot at from somewhere.

I'm curious to know what people think about Raven's maps. Do they lose so much in Domination because their map has a poor layout or is it just the players? I'm also curious about what others think about their Sabotage map.

I think all 3 sabotage maps are "easy" to defend, if you know what you're doing.  I think that the SVER map is the easiest to defend with (and from) snipers, which is the reason it seems so hard in an unorganized game -- most newbies seem to prefer to hide and snipe, which inherently makes the SVER map easier to defend when most of the other side is also newbies.  A little smoke here and there, and the SVER map is just as easy (maybe moreso, since smoke is really frustrating to snipers) as the other maps, IMO.

Most players seem to avoid smoke in their attacking loadouts (because its near useless in other games, relatively).  Its critical in MAG.  Absolutely critical.  Everyone should have it, and everyone should use it to get where they're going.  If I had to choose one type of grenade to carry with me, that'd be it.  In real life, too.
