Whatever Nintendo does is never enough for these industry types. With the N64 and Gamecube they were told that their userbase was too small to develop exclusive games for them. Now that the Wii userbase is huge, developers either say the system is too "weak" or that they can't understand the Wii market. Even during the SNES and NES eras western devs tried as hard as they could to not develop for Nintendo systems. As for the "power" excuse, when Nintendo tried to develop tech-heavy systems that didn't get them anywhere. |
Exactly what I was going to say. The N64 and GameCube was the systems where Nintendo tried to use money and graphics to get third parties on their side. And you saw how well that worked. Now Nintendo tried a different approach. Trying to install a huge userbase and marketshare upfront, like the PS2 did, so third parties would be more interested in working on their system.
Long sotry short, third parties seem anti-Nintendo and only work on Nintendo systems if they have to. Which they are clearly showing us with the secondary products they are putting on the Wii.
