What many people don't think about is that sony headquartered in japan. Every ps3 is still sold at a lost. But sony loses more for each ps3 sold in america. Because the exchange rate favors the yen right now. Right now the rate is $1 USD = about 92 yen. Im thinking their waiting til the rate goes back to at least $1 USD = about 100 yen or more. Then they will start shipping more units to the US. As you can see from latest charts ps3 is selling more in others. The value of euro is high against the dollar they lose less money selling on others region, mostly europe. Im pretty sure if they wanted to crank out more ps3 they can but they have to think about profitability also. Once they value of the dollar picks up they can shift more units here.
