I thought Metacritic was the official measure for telling which game is AAA and which one is not. Something like, anything over 90% there is AAA. That's why NSMBWii isn't AAA. |
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Whoever told you Metacritic was the "official" anything lied. Metacritic is simply something to guide you in the right direction. Saying a game is AAA is an extremely subjective and opinnionated thing. A game is AAA based on the experience that YOU, the gamer have with it.
There are obvious exceptions. Let's say a game is so broken that it can't be beat. Or it is plagued by glitches to the point of death. Obviousley, this is not a AAA game no matter whose opinnion. But when we are talking about games like Demons Souls, NSMBWii, Lost Odyssey, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune or Fable II, the fact that they don't have 90 on metacritic means NOTHING. These are AAA games, in terms of playability, fun and production values. Someone may not like them because of personal tastes. But this doesn't make the games any less great.
