Haters stay out please. All good games have haters. Especially Ninja Gaiden and DMC fanboys in this case.
I love God of War. Simply love it. Depending on the performance of III it might overtake MGS as my favourite franchise.
Imo, it craps all over Uncharted.
I realize that there are a lot of PS3 owners on vgchartz who haven't played God of War. You really should buy the Collection if you're living in America. If you're European wait for the Collection I guess.
So why is the God of War series so awesome you ask ?
Brilliant Storyline
The God of war series is one hack'n slasher with quite an enjoyable story. Add Greek mythology to the mix and you got yourself an EPIC win ! Hows this for a cutscene !
Fun, easy to learn, satisfying to master combat
Haters can say what they want, but the combat in God of War feels brilliant. Because of
A lot of variety in enemies - Undead Soldiers, Satyrs, Minataurs, Cyclopses, Gorgons, Centaurs, Harpies, Wraiths, Sirens and a lot more
Its FUN goddamit ! For once, I don't mind watching someone else play instead of playing myself.
Some of the combos are INSANE ! MY favourite one includes launching enemies into the air by holding triangle, folowwed by L1+Square, L1+O and L1+Triangle all while in the air. If you execute that correctly and not a fan of the combat in the end of it, theres seriously something wrong with you.
People may call God of War too easy and all you have to do is press square,square,triangle all the way through. Those people are ignorant and have never played GoW in Titan difficulty in which you get your balls handed to you by the enemies. Just because GoW is noob friendly doesn't mean you HAVE TO play like a noob.
Unsurpassed scale
Unlike certain rip-off's God of War doesn't have its combat in small boxed areas. In God of war, the scale of whats going on around you and the environments you're in is mind-blowingly HUGE !
This is displayed in the cutscenes and the gameplay.
How about this for a battle ?
In God of War 1, the temple of Pandora is on the titan Kronos' back. You have to spend about 3 hours in the temple itself. The temple itself is HUGE !
Similiarly the Temple of the Sisters of fate, the place where you drive the massive steeds of time is much bigger in scale than most of the PS360 games that exist now. Enough said.
God of War III is supposed to have fights on a moving titan ! A clear indication that III is continuing the trend of the EPIC SCALE !
This is the real "GoW" that is bigger, better and more badass.
Mindblowing graphics
GoW II on the PS2 is the best looking game on the system. It looks better than most Wii games. GoW II from the Collection looks better than most early generation PS360 games, showing its high production values.
The God of War III demo (6 months old code) looked as good as (if not better) than Uncharted 2 imo. Can't make up my mind.
The character models look better than the models from the CGI from GoWII.
Utter Epicness
God of War series is so damn EPIC that it should be renamed "Oh My God of War". If I tried to explain this Epicness I would spoil the entire story for you.
