For the ammount we pay for consoles I would see it like you rent/lease it for life because the way i see it if you arent allowed to do what ever you want with the product you payed for then its not yours to begin with and you pay for the right to use the product and not to own the product. Would that be a fair conclusion?

Basically, any software you buy, you are buying the right to use the software, not an actual product.  That right has certain limitations in the way you use it explained in the EULA.  I'm not surprised electronics are treated the same way.
