3D Mario can be pitted against perhaps Ratchet and Clank series minus the shooting I guess but the platforming elements are soooo much fun as well. Funny people mention NSMBW as if it has done anything new outside and outfit or 2 and the multiplayer element which was way overdue anyways. SMB3 was the revolutionizing Mario title. All NSMBW did was take most of its inspiration from SMB3 (best in series) and make nods to the other Mario's, THAT'S IT! It's the same over and over again and anyone who doesn't see that is blinded by the fact that it's a long standing franchise and mascot of Nintendo. LBP is the better platformer as it also has alot of puzzles that use the physics elements very well. And funny you mention the "play/create/share are not prerequisite for being a platformer" when that in itself adds depth to the point you can pretty much mimic anything in the 2D Mario series if you choose to or break away from anything created. It's like saying the minigames in SMB3 or the choosing a different path in SMB3 are not prerequisite for being a platformer, when in fact those are elements that add further depth just like LBP's level creation and challenging others to try out your levels and multiple challenges. Hell if you choose to you can create the platformer of your dreams. There is not much level variety to NSMB or NSMBW as it all has been rehashed from SMB1 and SMB3 down to the switching sides of the screen. To another extent almost anything in the Ratchet and Clank can also rival it.

In short, would you like me to be "more descriptive?". Would you like me to go more in depth, or even bring out games from the 16 bit era that were also of higher quality? See I try to be open minded when it comes to games. I wasn't one that would sit and play Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest and ignored the rest of the RPG's such as Xenogears, Valkyrie Profile, Wild Arms, Vagrant Story, Suikoden, Legend of Legaia etc. I break away from being the typical blinded person that clings to whatever mascot my favorite system has. I had a PS1 and never owned an N64, but that never stopped me from sleeping over my cousin's house to play OOT and Majora's Mask, nor the countless drunk nights playing some Golden Eye and Perfect Dark. I recognize quality over anything else. I dislike the xbox and what it represents as far as M$'s other attempt at cornering another market, but that didn't stop me from enjoying Jade Empire, Advent Rising, KOTOR or Fable 1, and then the 360 with Gears of War 1 and to a lesser extent Halo 3 and LO.

As much as I love Uncharted series or Demon's Souls, or anything Sony exclusive, it will never blind me from recognizing the next better game that comes from other systems because I am a gamer first, unlike many I see here.

Wow, just wow. You make it seem like a complete and utter crime to be a market success that people actually like.  You also make it seem like being different in itself is more important than anything else.

First, I can appreciate a few PS1, PS2, Xbox and PSP titles.  I enjoyed Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout, Soul Calibur 3, Jet Set Radio Future, and Loco Roco quite a bit.

Second, I love playing games but playing something different doesn't make a game better.  To be honest, is a major difference in Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction from a Crack in Time?  At the cost of sounding like a broken record, being different is not a prerequisite for being a good game.  You may have enjoyed Xenogears and such more than Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest because they're different but it's more much more important to have better execution, pacing, and polish to a better game.  If it's a crime to be just a tad like its predecessor, NSMBW and NSMB are guilty as charged but they offer experiences which depth can't be fully appreciated in the first playthrough.  Believe it or not, NSMBW and NSMB have physics that make the precision platforming much more satisfying to pull off time and time again that Sackboy's floaty controls just can't compare.

Also, who the hell do you think you are to say someone isn't a gamer first?

Finally, sorry for the late response, my brother needed me for a moment.

Pixel Art can be fun.
