i think you are blending too many theories to avoid a logical answer. You are thinking of cebras if you are trying to guess a Call of Duty rated M game sales are mostly attributed to moms and dads(the uninformed ones), buying it as a gift for their "childs" that are a bit overgrown AND happen to own a wii?. So basically: Most of MW sales are bought by uninformed parents to their 17+ year olds? Seriously? Theres a noticeable chunk of the wii playerbase who are independent ,adults, got a wii for a or b reasons(such as the innovative control scheme), or Mario, but also like good shooters and the wii happens to have very good controls for such games. Is not too difficult to guess that out of the active 20 million users, some gotta buy COD.We can go all the way back to COD3 where the wii sales pretty much matched the PS3 sales. The COD franchise wasnt as huge back then, there were no TV ads pretty much. But you can find the origin of the franchise strenght on the wii market right there. COD3, WAW,MW. Basically, its a known franchise for wii owners, and they know it plays nicely with the wiimote. |
also, not all dads are old and clueless - im 27 and a dad, and got a wii so my missus could enjoy my console too, for my loyalty to nintendo over the years and the fact that i would have missed zelda, metroid mario and starfox.
so yes, i am a dad who bought a console for my family, but that doesnt mean i still dont want mature games for after bed time! or that i dont know my stuff!
