i thought that the original god of war was a great game with a bunch of odd design choices that make it frustrating.

1.) hades pillars - the stupidest, dumbest, craziest game mechanic ever conceived by mankind. no fun can be achieved from climbing them, and they're far too unforgiving, which results in you spending an hour on something that isn't fun at all.

2.) too few boss fights - after you've killed your hundredth minotaur, it ain't fun anymore.

3.) desert of lost souls - finding 3 banshees in this huge area, all of them having a random path, will take forever. stupidity reigned in this part of the game. god of war is about searching?

god of war 2, however, is an absolute masterpiece. good thing that idiot jaffe was replaced.

Ugh, yeah, go bash for Jaffe for the few "odd design choices" in an otherwise "great" game, but don't give the man his due credit for the rest of that "great" game that he CREATED. That was his baby through and through. Hmmmm, maybe the idiot isn't Jaffe at all but someone in this thread.

I agree, it is because of Jaffe that we have God of War to begin with. Sure some design choices were a pain. I still find it funny that people had problems with the Siren hunting in the desert. It probably took me 5 min both times, I have 5.1 surround (dunno if it makes THAT much of a difference) and it was easy for me to find them. Just go straight in towards the end point where you find the first one, then go around semi close to the walls counter clockwise and on your first run you will find them all most likely. I do agree that GOW2 was the better game and there was more fluidity in combat (not TOO noticeable), great job at complimenting the story in 1 and having its own amazing story.
