I've done both and I felt more constructive stopping people from capturing a point.   I dont even get enough points when i risk my own neck and try to capture a place.

I believe you get like 30 for capturing it (15xp and then double for FragO), but I don't remember how much you get for planting (I want to say 5xp and then the FragO bonus).
