AlkamistStar said: I recently got my hands on the MAG Beta, and it was much worse than i expected. I thought this game would have pushed the bar, but after playing, there's so many things wrong with it. No regenerating health (yes, i've heard it all before, but this would be great for a game that sports such a huge map), not being able to melee while reloading ( i mean seriously?!), dying 10 seconds after i spawn because of campers, and a frustrating aim reticule, not seeing where i'm getting shot from, not being helped by my team, where the game is TEAM based/focused. A lack of a headset to communicate with my team (yea..meaning i dno't have a headset and netheir does anyone else on my team...partially my fault, but we're all mute from each other), it's a pain working my way back to where i was previously, and the list goes on, i just didn't like the game at all. At least after i played MW2, and seen the previews and videos for Battlefield Bad Company 2...this game just doesnt cut it, it feels slow in comparision. |
Let me itemize my response:
1- Health regeneration isn't vital (not every game needs it, I can just see health regenerating Counter-Strike now). Still, you do know that players can use the medic needle guns that can heal them or heal and even revive team mates when upgraded, right?
2- Not being able to melee while reloading I would agree with because you can't really rely on your sidearm if you get caught mid-reload. Since the pistol feels so useless, I hardly feel the need to upgrade any of the sidearm skills so I don't know if the pistol actually becomes more of a capable backup or how the SMG sidearm performs instead of the pistol.
3- Dying after respawning can be annoying, but you could also try different things. If the enemy has one area very well guarded, try something else. Not much else I can say about it and this game isn't the only one to have issues like that.
4- What's so frustrating about the crosshairs? Maybe they could be bigger? It's 4 lines with a dot in the middle... What else could you possibly want?
5- You can see where you're getting shot from. As I'm sure you've noticed, shots fired show up with an indicator on a circle around your crosshair. Shots fired at you are marked with a yellow indication instead of the basic grey and shots hitting you are marked with red.
6- Not much I can say about that. When when you're with people who work together it's great and when it's not it stinks. What I can suggest is using the revive ability and reviving downed team mates as much as possible so even if you win or lose, you can still earn hundreds of XP in a battle.
7- Lack of people chatting can be a mixed bag. I've had plenty of rounds where nobody used a mic and we've kicked ass and times when numerous people used a mic and we were destroyed which made it worse because then I got to hear the kicking and screaming from all the people who were on their mics. It all just depends on the people you're playing with.
8- Having to run back to where you were can be annoying, but that's just part of the experience and more people need to know about reviving. I hope you don't play the Battlefield series then Actually, you said that were you also interested in Bad Company 2 so I find that amusing.
It's more of like infantry only Battlefield than it is Call of Duty. I'm not saying it doesn't have issues as there is a lot of work that can be done to it. Like I said in my first post in this thread, I'm probably not going to buy it at full price unless there's an official PS3 headset included or the game improves A LOT (since the game is already gold, I'm doubting we'll see much outside of balancing and stuff like that). Still, I don't think it's as bad of a game as other people claim it is. I wonder if it's because I've played FPS games like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Half-Life, Red Orchestra, and HL2 mod Insurgency so I don't feel like something like a lack of health regeneration or friendly fire make a game terrible.
