Fatal Frame IV was different. There were game-breaking bugs in there that no-one wanted to take responsibility for
Basically, Fatal Frame IV's story went thus:

Nintendo: No u.
Grasshopper: Hai guyz! Did you see those bugs? roflmao
Nintendo: ahh fuck it.
A different story from the other games that got passed over.
