Sounds more like an excuse than an actual explanation especially since that was 2008 when people were buying GTA4, LBP, Resistance 2, and MGS4 on the PS3... so much for the movie buffs :P @your comments about MW Wii vs MW 360/PS3, put it like this, I've owned the game spanning 360, PC, and Wii, the only version superior to the Wii version would be the PC version, the only things the Wii version lacks is local multi (which isn't even in the PC version either and they added squadmate mode) and the lack of the DLC maps. But the Wii controls are miles ahead of the 360 version and would be the console version of choice, so unless the PS3 and 360 game sprouts a mouse and keyboard and some mod support, this is a no brainer, people like good controls in FPS games. |
I dunno. I would have to say that most of the FPS gamers I play with regard good framerate as being more important than some pointer controls that, honestly, are only mildly better than a dual analog, if you're experienced with one. Without the pinpoint accuracy, and lighting fast near-zero delay of the mouse, the Wii will just never be all that for shooters.
MWRs framerate is bad, relative to the 360 version. That makes all the difference in the world in a shooter, in a LOT of people's books. Not to mention the obvious graphics realism differences, which is a large part of the draw of the SP experience.
I kinda think the anecdotal "I prefer it on the Wii" comments are pretty left field, and largely unfounded, from a FPS community standpoint. I'm willing to accept that the pointer controls are mildly better, when implemented well, but its just not the difference most FPS fans would jump the framerate and graphics ship for -- the Wiimote is laggy and somewhat inaccurate, especially when the framerate is low, which is often is in MWR.
I can totally see casual players enjoying on the Wii more though -- controls are everything to someone who doesn't play many shooters, or action games in general. If I wasn't used to the dual analog at this point, I might even prefer it, if I was coming from a pure PC gaming background.
