Kudistos Megistos said: I'm not sure about the US, but one man was recently convicted for it in the UK. Interestingly, it seems that the act of modifying a console itself is illegal, rather than modifying it for the purpose of playing pirated games; that means that one is no longer allowed to modify a console to play homebrew or imported games. It seems that Spain is an exception to this interpretation (probably NSFW). |
I´ve read the same thing happening in the US and thats why I asked the question, spain is not the exception its UK that is the exception in this case and if I remember correcly the guy in hte UK also had lots of copyright material so it wasnt solely for modifying his console.
The spainn case is pretty well known by now and I think something similar happened in France.
Edit: The first link brings me back to the question i had how in the hell can it be illegal to modify your console in any way?
If it´s illegal to modify your console then its not yours and you actually havent bought the thing but instead you have leased or rented the thing.
